Cheese and Wine Tasting
Learn all about the art of matching wine and food; tasting 6 different wine styles from all around the world alongside a selection of small plates. Delve into the world of wine with guidance from a wine professional and enjoy learning something new alongside tasting great food for a relaxed and enjoyable evening.
The wine: 1 glass of bubbles, 2 whites, 2 reds and a dessert wine
The small plates: Breaded goats cheese with honey and thyme – Smoked mackerel and chive fishcakes with aioli – Slow roasted tomato bruschetta with pesto – Chickpea and pepper stew – Sautéed chorizo – Chocolate pot
The Tutor: Becky, who has 15 years experience in the wine industry, is eager to share her passion for all things grape! Breaking down barriers and sharing her knowledge about food and wine matching, new styles to try and where to find real treasures
Length of session: 2 hours
Level: Beginners to intermediates, wine enthusiasts and novices. Perfect for those looking to learn something new in a relaxed and enjoyable environment. Aged 18 or over.
Content covered: Introduction to principles behind wine and food matching, how different styles of wine are made, tasting 6 different wines paired with small plates/ dessert. Information of the wines tasted, where they are from, who has made them, other suitable food matches and where they can be purchased.
Age suitability: 18 years old upwards. Anyone lucky enough to look 25 or under will be requested for identification.
Suitable for: Wine enthusiasts and novices. Please be aware some wines and cheeses contain animal products used during production. The small plates are a set menu so we are unable to adapt it for any special diets.
What to bring: The number for a taxi for a safe journey home!
Please note: This is a tasting workshop and not a cookery workshop and therefore recipe cards are not provided for the dishes. The small plates are made on the day and served alongside each of the wines as Becky goes through them.
